Harmonize the Heart with Color Therapy

We live in a world that places importance on the rational and linear, making It easy to become disconnected from heart wisdom. We place our focus on what we think we should be doing or get complacent in routines. It benefits us to occasionally hit the pause button, check in with the heart and see whether we are harmonized with its desires and needs.

This ritual can be done anytime you’re seeking clarity in your relationships or to access the endless love and compassion that already exists within.

Time commitment: 20-30 minutes

Suggested items:

Pink flowers

Rose Quartz and/or Indian Jade Chakrub or other pink and green crystals

Note: There are many ways to enhance this ritual. I offer suggestions, but I encourage you to use what you have and what feels resonant to you.

Begin by creating an environment that feels safe and comfortable. It might feel nice to find a lush grassy area, lie a blanket down, and do this ritual outdoors. You may prefer to do it at home on a bed adorned with silky pink sheets.

You might buy a bouquet of pink flowers for the occasion and scatter them on your bed or in your bathtub (a pink bath bomb would also be a nice touch). Perhaps you light pink candles and post them in the four corners of your room to call in the loving energy of the elements.

As you settle into the space, you might place crystals like rose quartz or green aventurine on your heart chakra (the middle of your chest) or hold them loosely in your hands as grounding support throughout the ritual.

Next, you will do a ten minute meditation on the color pink. You can look up “pink light meditation” on YouTube, Spotify, or meditation apps or you can set a timer and simply close your eyes, breathe deeply, and begin to tune into your heart. Imagine that a pink light is emanating from your chest and growing to encapsulate your entire being. Feel its endless warmth, compassion, and love. Affirm yourself as being worthy of this love. Know that in your purest form, you are this love.

Envision this pink light spreading, throughout your home, to the people you love most. Feel gratitude for your ability to give and receive love from others. At first, try to focus on the people it feels easy to be in this intimate exchange with, making a non-judgmental note if you feel animosity or resentment creep in. Let the light travel further, encompassing your entire city, then state, and country, until you are eventually picturing a pink-hued earth spinning in our star-filled galaxy.

It might feel overwhelming or dishonest to give your love to the entire world; if so, try to think of the pink light as the energy of love, your visualization a recognition that all beings deserve safety, peace, and love.

As your meditation ends, focus the pink light once again on yourself. Stay in this state for as long as it feels good.

When you emerge, grab your pen and journal and spend a few minutes journaling about what the pink light felt like and how often you allow yourself to occupy that space of pure love and acceptance.

Here are a few journal prompts to guide you:

How can you invite more heart-centered energy into your life?

How are you loving and being loved by the people in your life?

This is where you might return to any feelings of resentment or anger that came up during the ritual and any people who triggered unwanted feelings. What would have to happen for you to feel more at peace with these people and situations?

Is there a relationship that is no longer in alignment that needs to be cut loose?

Take your time and answer these questions honestly. To finish this ritual, write three loving actions that you can take to come into greater harmony with your heart’s desires. Let one be an intention to carry forward, the second a behavior or relationship to work towards cutting loose, and the last something to add to your self-care routine that affirms your love within.

Thank yourself for taking the time to tune into the universal source of love. Know that this is accessible to you at any time.
