July Chakrubscopes & Rewriting Emotional Stories

The month of July starts off with a new moon and solar eclipse in the nurturing water sign of Cancer on July 2. Ruled by the moon, Cancer is often associated with themes of motherhood and femininity. While these correlations can be correct, they represent just a crescent of this sign’s full scope. Cancerian energy is fiercely protective and empathetic. It feels deeply because it knows how much information can be gleaned from our feelings and that learning to manage emotions helps one better cope with life’s upsets. Is there an emotional story that is looking to be rewritten? What stuck emotions are asking to be released or transformed?

Mercury is retrograde for most of the month beginning on July 7. It will backtrack through the vivacious fire sign of Leo and eventually make its way back into Cancer before it stations direct on July 31. Mercury in Leo will likely hold lessons around our personal communication styles and how we show up for those around us. Mercury in Cancer will challenge us to honor our natural pace rather than rushing to keep up with others. Remember that nothing changes overnight and be patient with your progress.

On July 16, we’ll have a full moon and partial lunar eclipse in the cardinal sign of Capricorn. Occurring towards the end of Cancer season, this full moon is an invitation to reconnect with earth energy. Because it’s an eclipse, it’s likely that unexpected things will be revealed (either personally or in the collective); try to remain present so that you don’t get overwhelmed. I recommend rituals that focus on the tangible and concrete.

Leo season arrives on July 23, bringing an abundance of playful, exuberant energy. If you’ve done the work of Cancer season by tending to your emotional realms, you’ll be in a better position to harness the creative force of the sun, Leo’s planetary ruler, and align with your purpose. Emotional work can be intimidating, but it also creates space for joy and aliveness to come through.

July is a unique month in that it has two new moons. A Leo new moon will end the month on July 31, inviting intentions that revolve around creativity and how you express yourself in the world.

Readings are written by Danielle Dorsey using the Sacred Symbol Oracle Deck created by artist Marcella Kroll. You are encouraged to meditate on the symbols of the cards to receive additional intuitive guidance. Another way to work with this wisdom is to reflect on how you relate to the word(s) associated with your oracle card. Take note of your initial response and then look up the term(s) in a dictionary to go deeper into its medicine. Please read your sun, rising, and moon signs if you know them.

Cancer season might be especially intense for you, but instead of getting overwhelmed, reclaim the power of emotional clarity and honesty.

Affirmation: I act boldly upon my instincts and listen intently to gut feelings.

Support stone: Carnelian will give you the confidence to advocate for your intuition.

New Moon

What an apropos card for a month that begins and ends with a new moon. Become curious about the cycles or phases that are beginning or ending.

Affirmation: Every day is an opportunity to renew as a truer version of myself.

Support stone: Girasol is a gentle and loving stone that will support internal shifts.

The truth is not a fixed point, but a moving destination. Summon the courage to follow what is true for you, even when it means changing course or bucking tradition.

Affirmation: My truth does not rely on outside approval or understanding.

Support stone: Lapis lazuli will help you claim and live in your truth.

Divine Masculine

Balancing is an act, it is something we must pursue. Be bold in pursuing that which allows you to feel in flow and release anything that jeopardizes your peace.

Affirmation: I attract and achieve harmony with my surroundings.

Support stone: Red jasper will ignite passion to apply towards your desires.

Negative emotions are not to be avoided, but understood. They are often warning signs that something is amiss. Be curious about what these feelings might be trying to teach you.

We should not dwell on the past, but that doesn’t mean that we should pretend it didn’t happen. Explore where you need closure before jumping into the next adventure.

Support stone: Amethyst will help you process and heal from past events.

Everyone has some amount of power. How far does your extend and are you using it wisely? You are being invited to step into your fullness, but not at the expense of anyone else’s agency.

Hedging your bets does not make disappointment any easier to handle. Claim your desires and think of them as magnets to attract all that you’ve worked for.

Affirmation: I recognize myself as worthy of receiving good fortune.

Support stone: Green aventurine will attract luck and abundance into your life.

Growth is nonlinear and you thrive in this amorphous, in-between state. It’s when you try to conform to others’ expectations that your growth is stymied.

Affirmation: All stages of growth are equally necessary in my evolution.

Support stone: Rhodonite will tend to the heart as you go through growing pains.

It’s time to turn your attention to the intangible and nurture the relationships that allow you to operate at full capacity in the world. Consider whether you are in healthy exchange with those you’re closest to.

Affirmation: I nurture the connections that help me feel supported and safe.

Support stone: Rose quartz will soften your heart to better connect with others.

Full moon

It feels good to be full and satiated, but one bite too many and we’re left lethargic. As you sample life’s wonders, be careful not to overindulge.

Affirmation: I remain in a healthy flow of receiving and releasing.

Support stone: Selenite draws on the power of the moon to help you stay in flow.

You’re being invited to check in with what helps you stay present. Instead of postulating future events, find activities that you help you surrender to the moment.

Support stone: Ruby resonates with the root chakra to help you stay grounded.
